CommunityZero®Help
Communities can permit their members to rate each others content items. Members can evaluate an item, and assign a value from 1 to 10, based upon its overall quality. This can be important in communities that are driven by user feedback. It also permits high quality content to be easily and quickly identified. Once items have been rated, they can be sorted and searched by their rating.
Important:
This section will only appear if User Content Ratings have been enabled
by site administrators.
To access the content rating setup page select "Content Rating" from the main community administration area. On the main page, the founder, and administrators can select which content areas will be enabled.
The following tools are available for user content rating:
Articles
Discussions
Calendar
Notes
Files
Media
Databases
Mailing Lists
If a checkbox is activated for a tool (i.e checked), all content will instantly be accessible for member rating.
Note: Disabling
user content ratings for a tool, does not reset ratings for each item
to zero. Thus
if content rating is re-enabled for a tool, any items that have previously
received ratings will display these values within the respective tool.
This section is used to set a minimum number of member ratings required before a content average is displayed, and used for search or sorting. Before this limit is reached, the current average rating will only be shown on the detail view of a content item. Items that have not yet reached this minimum number of member ratings, will be excluded from any Community Content Search, and Site-Wide Search.
If folder sorting is set to filter on user content ratings, items that do not meet the minimum number of member ratings will appear at the end of the sort. These items will be sorted together by "Last Updated (descending)".
Once the minimum number of members have rated a particular content item, the average rating for that item will then be displayed in all areas of that community where the content appears.
Note:
A separate setting is available to prevent average ratings from being
shown on the what's new
page. Rating
icons will be set to show on this page by default.
