CommunityZero®Help
Founders and administrators can change the look and feel of the community by hiding the main button on the navigation bar, and preventing the community from displaying in the my communities listing.
The main button, located on the left-side navigation bar, can be hidden. The main button allows access to the my communities area to view other communities and edit personal information. Hiding the main button will remove this functionality from the left-side navigation bar, although the main area can still be accessed through the jump to... list box.
Users who are not yet a member of the community, will be presented with a "Join" button on the community's Welcome Page. Previewing members will also be presented with a "Join" button located on the left hand navigation bar. To change the text displayed on the "Join" button, enter an alternate phrase in the box provided.
This option permits removing the community from appearing in the my communities list on the site main page. The community however will still be visible to the founder and administrators of the community. A few sample scenarios have been provided.
Scenario 1
A community has been created including memberships. The community however
is still in the process of being prepared before showing it to all members.
Hiding the community in the my communities list will allow members to
access the community discreetly, without advertising it to all current
members.
Scenario 2
Over time it may be desired to make a community appear as though it is
archived. This can be achieved by hiding it from the my communities list.
Member's can still access the community by it's URL, however it is not
readily available from the site main page.
Scenario 3
If the site's header has been designed to include a direct link to a community,
it may be desirable to remove the community from the my communities list,
thus preventing redundancy.
This option permits the display of view counts, which appear alongside content items in various locations, throughout the community. In some cases it may be desirable to hide view counts from members of the community. If this option is set to "Hide", view counts will only remain visible to the community Founder and its Administrators. If hidden, sorting by view counts will still be possible for all community members, however the count values will be not be shown.
For further information including which areas are affected, see the section on "Content View Counts".
The "What's New Page" supports the addition of a text or HTML header or footer, for further customization. Customer headers appear below the upper menu bar, whereas custom footers are inserted above the bottom bar on the "What's New Page".
Note:
The header and footer both fully support the use of HTML tags. When
using HTML, use caution and ensure all tags are properly nested and closed,
avoiding page layout issues. HTML
tags that are opened in the header, may also be closed in the footer.
To add a header or footer to the "What's New Page", enter the desired information in the header or footer text box, and press the "Apply Changes" button. The changes will immediately take effect on the "What's New Page".
