Chat Rooms (Permanent): Introduction

The Chat tool in each community provides members with access to permanent chat rooms for real-time online meetings. Available chat rooms are listed alphabetically by name in the Chat tool main page and will remain in the community until deleted.

Registered users also have the option of initiating instant, temporary chat rooms outside the context of an individual community.

Temporary Chat Rooms

Temporary chat rooms allow real-time conversations to take place between any number of online members, across all communities.  Members can start a room anytime and invite people to join. Temporary chat rooms that you have started or joined will appear in the Chat tab in the Community Messenger.  (See Community Messenger Chat for more information).

Permanent Chat Rooms

Permanent chat rooms are created inside a community and are specific to that community; only members of that community can be participants. Permanent chat rooms are persistent and only close when deleted from the community.  (See Permanent Chat Rooms for more information).
