Available Field Types

Below is a list of the field types, which are available, including a brief definition of each. Links to pages containing greater detail have been included.

Short Text

This field is designed to store one line of unformatted text.  For further information see  short text field.

Long Text

This field is designed to store multiple lines of unformatted text. For further information see  long text field.

Formatted Text

This field is designed to store multiple lines of formatted text. For further information see  formatted text field.

Hyperlink

This field is designed to store a Uniform Resource Locator (URL).  For further information see  hyperlink field.

Email

This field is designed to store an email address. Only syntactically correct email addresses are accepted. For further information see  email field.

Number

This field is designed to store a numerical value. Both decimal and whole numbers are supported. Which numerical format is accepted is determined by the configuration of it's field properties. Non-numerical entries will not be accepted. For further information see  number field.

Boolean

This field is designed to store a value of 1 or 0. Textual terms are displayed to users on the add and update record forms. Whichever term is selected determines which numerical value is entered (i.e. 1 or 0).  The default terms used are "Yes" and "No" however these can be modified.  For further information see  boolean field.

Date & Time

This field is designed to store a date and time value.  The date entry follows the format of "dd/mm/yyyy" and the time value follows the format of "ex. 2:20 PM". The record detail page presents the date for this field in the format of "Month Day, Year".  For further information see date & time field.

Date

This field is designed to store a date value, which follows the format of "dd/mm/yyyy". For further information see date field.

Select List

The select list can act as a single or multiple list. The layout of the selectable options is also configurable.  For further information see select list.

File

This field is designed to allow a file to be stored as part of a record. Additional options such as minimum and maximum file size supported may also be configured.  For further information see file field.

Image

This field is designed to allow an image to be stored as part of a record. Additional options such as minimum and maximum file size supported may also be configured. For further information see image field.

Member

This field is designed to store a link to a member of the community. Additional filters may be set to restrict which members can be selected as well as other configuration options.  For further information see member field.

Foreign Key

This field is used to provide a link from one database record to another illustrating association. A foreign key can be used to provide a link to another database record, or used as an internal link to one of it's own records.  For further information see foreign key field.

Posted By

This field stores the identify of the member who posted the record. It is built-in and it's value cannot be edited.  For further information see built-in fields.

Modified By

This field contains the identity of the member who last modified the record. It is built-in and it's value cannot be edited.  For further information see built-in fields.

Date Created

This field contains the date that the record was added. It is presented in the format of "dd/mm/yy". This field is built-in and it's value cannot be edited. For further information see built-in fields.

Date Updated

This field contains the date that the record was last updated.  It is presented in the format of "dd/mm/yy". This field is built-in and it's value cannot be edited.  For further information see built-in fields.
