Advanced Search

The advanced search utility allows for searching based upon user selected fields and selectable search criteria. The search utility is presented as a single page with four tabs. Searching commences on the "New Search" tab, then proceeds to the "Search Criteria", and "Results" tabs. The "Save As View" tab can also be used to create views for the database.

Initially all tabs except "New Search" are grayed out.  These tabs will become selectable as you proceed.  Once a complete search has taken place, you will have access to move freely between any of the tabs to modify and refine your search.

Where do I find Advanced Search?

The advanced search is accessible from two locations. These locations exist on both the summary table and search result pages:

Create a New Search

When the advanced search utility is accessed, you will first be presented with the "New Search" tab. Select as many fields as you would like to search upon and click the button labeled "Continue". You will then proceed to the "Add Search Criteria" form.

Add Search Criteria

This tab is used to allow search criteria to be entered or selected for each field chosen on the "New Search" tab. The search criteria will be used to match against all records in the database.

Save Search As View

Note: The "Save as View" tab will only appear if you have the right to edit the database.

This tab is used to save the current search configuration as a selectable view of the database. Views can be selected from the summary table and search result pages. They can also be chosen to be the initial view, which members of the community will see upon first entering the database. For further information see save as view.

Personal Saved Searches

Once an advanced search has been completed, an option will be provided on the search results tab to save the current results as a personal saved search.  Saving a personal search can be achieved by selecting the "Add to My Searches" link on the "Search Criteria" drop-down bar.
