Preview: Files

Important: The preview icon will only appear beside a file name if file indexing has been activated for the site.

While in the files tool, if file indexing has been enabled by administration, a preview icon will appear to the left of each file name.  To preview a file, select the icon.  A pop-up window will appear with the "Preview" tab initially selected, displaying an HTML implementation of the file.

Note: File previewing is also accessible in the community content search, site wide search, and on the details page of a file.  If accessing preview from the file details page, a preview of the file will open in the current web browser window, rather than opening in an external window.

Menu Bar Options

There are several options available on the menu bar, of the file preview window.  See below for details on each button.

Back (when previewing in current window)

Opens the previous web page in the current browser window.

View (when previewing in pop-up window)

Opens the main browser window to the detailed view of the file being previewed.

Open

Opens the original file in the browser window.  To perform editing, please download the file and re-upload, as changes cannot be saved from within this window.

Download

Displays a dialog window confirming the file download.

Preview

Displays an HTML version of the current file.  Also included are a list of properties specific to the file such as Title, Author, and Company.

No Frames

Opens a browser window containing only the contents of the "Preview" tab.
