Member List: Introduction

The member list provides a powerful and automated method to track and review a community's membership. The member section shows when a member joined as well as when they joined the specific community. It also indicates each member's most recent visit.

A drop-down list in the upper right-hand corner provides several filtering options -- you may filter the list to show only members within a certain group or only the new members since your last visit to the community.

You can re-sort this list by clicking any of the column headers. You can also select an alphabet letter listed above the column headers to filter the member list to only those whose user names begin with the selected letter.

To view a member's detailed profile, click on their user name from the list of members. The user name is shown in the first column. Any members who have chosen to include a photo with their profile will be marked with a camera icon .

If the member has chosen to hide portions of their profile, you may see several fields indicating "not disclosed".

In addition to seeing all members in a list, you can also view all member photos by clicking on the “Show profile images”.

Changing Membership Groups of Member

While viewing a member's profile, community founders and administrators have to opportunity to modify a member's enrollment in the community's various membership groups.  Simply check or un-check the groups displayed and press the "Update" button to apply any changes.

Removing Members from a Community

If you are the community founder or administrator, you may select the trash icon next to a member's entry in the main member list.  You will be prompted to confirm this action before the member is actually removed.  The member is not notified by email.

Viewing Recent Content Posted by a Member

While viewing a member's profile, you will have the opportunity to view a list of all content the member has posted.  Select the "Current Community" link to view content the member has added to the current community, or select the "All My Communities" link to display content added to each community where membership exists.  Selecting a link will open a search window, containing a list of each content item the member has added.  The content will be sorted by "Last Updated", in a descending fashion.

Hiding the Members Tool from Members

The member tool (member list and profiles)  can be hidden from community members while remaining visible to a community's Founder and its administrators.

This can be accomplished by removing the "View" right to the Members tool for membership groups other than Founder and Administrator:

  1. Enter the Community Administration area (you must be the community's founder or administrator).

  2. Select "Membership Groups".

  3. In the drop down box found at the top of the page, select the "Member" tool.

  4. In the "View Member List" column, click all checkmarks to change the icon from a green checkmark to a red "X" next to all groups other than Founder and Administrator.

  5. Click Update to commit the changes.

Disable Members Tool for All Users

To quickly disable the Members tool for all users, including Founders and administrators, simply de-activate the Members tool from within the Tool Configuration area in the Community Administration page.
