Projects: Adding and Updating

While in the Tasks tool, if permitted by the founder to add a project, a "New Project" link will be accessible below the gray toolbar at the top of the page. If adding a project to an existing project, a "New" link will be accessible on the project detail page. To edit a project, select the desired project to access it's detail page, then select the "Edit" link.

The task form is described in detail below. All required fields are marked with a red star.

Project Name

Select a name that will identify the new project.

Short Name

Provide an abbreviated name for the project that can be displayed in the "My Tasks" table.

Status

Select the project status from the drop-down menu:

 

Note: If a project is set to "Not Started" and one of it's tasks is changed from "Not Started" to any progress value (e.g. 1 to 100), the project's status will automatically change to "In Progress".

Priority

Select the priority of the project from the drop-down menu:

 

Project Manager

Select the button labeled "Assign" to open a member selection pop-up box. Select a member from the list. The default of this field is the creator of the project.

Planned Start Date

Click the calendar icon to select the date from the pop-up box.  Alternatively, use the drop-down menus and text box to specify the date the project is expected to begin.

Planned End Date

Click the calendar icon to select the date from the pop-up box.  Alternatively, use the drop-down menus and text box to specify the date the project is expected to end.

Actual End Date

Click the calendar icon to select the date from the pop-up box.  Alternatively, use the drop-down menus and text box to specify the date the project will end.

Parent Project

If this is a sub-project, select the parent project from the drop-down menu, otherwise select "Root Level".

Description

Provide a description of the project and the type of tasks that should be added.

Default Task Sort Order

Select the default order from the drop-down menu, in which tasks contained within the project will be sorted.

Link to Related Content

If you wish to associate your project with other existing content in the community, select the check box labeled "Link to Related Content". For more help, see Linking Related Content.

Once the form has been completed to your satisfaction, press the "Add" or "Update" button at the bottom of the form.
